I am losing my House!

My favorite part of the day is that small sliver of time I have between from when my husband gets home from work and I leave for my shift at work. It may only be for an hour or so, but I cherish every minute of it.

Because of our schedule between our two jobs and my scout responsibilities, we DVR our favorite shows and then take that time between Kathryn’s bedtime and my time to leave for work to watch them. We don’t watch TV often and our tastes seem to change each season. However, it’s rare that the husband and I find a show that we both enjoy watching together.

A couple of years ago, during the “Time Traveler’s Wife” hype, he and I found a show we both adored. “New Amsterdam” was nominated for an Emmy, and then was immediately canceled. Still saddened by the loss of such a great show, we grew to love “My Own Worst Enemy,” starring Christian Slater. That show lasted two months.

But then again, maybe it’s just me. I remember enjoying “Twin Peaks” during my senior year of High School. It stayed on air for only a year. Netflix recently recommended the show “Jericho”. It looks great! Apparently, I’m four years too late.

Though I’d heard of “House” previously from friends, I was still recovering from losing “ER” after 13 wonderful seasons, and was hesitant to be hurt by another fantastic medical drama. Over the summer, I grew addicted to the syndicated episodes on USA. Starting with the end of last season, my husband and I started watching regularly.

True to my pattern, “House, MD” is saying farewell this coming May.

Now, my husband and I are yet again forced to find a new show to settle into.

I just hope those “Modern Family” and “Dr. Who” fans out there don’t mind that we’ve become addicted to those shows, as well! I wish them luck.

  1. Please don’t watch Psych. Mike and I really enjoy it plus the sarcastic 80’s humor with show and music reference is amazing 😛
